Shattered, my physical existence feeling torn ripped apart, with the shredded pieces tossed carelessly aside
And the culprit that did this callously casually walks away, off to another day searching for other prey
Me, left for dead my very life force in a slow flow exits my numerous wounds, feelings of intense heat at first then numbing cold
I feel myself falling down, down a steep precipice reaching out for nonexistent assistance no ledge, no rope no helping hand to grab a hold
As I struggle failing against the fading,
I hear the faint whispers of lost loved ones waiting
Beckoning me to give in and come to rest,
release the pain filled exhalations with one last breath
“You did your best, a warrior true,
but now your time is done come on home son no one will blame you”.
A part of me yearns, burns literally to just let it end let my conscious fade like dying embers turned to ash in the wind
Perhaps come back in some distant reincarnation to try again
Ahh but wait, might such a venture come too late? Do we dare to hope the reckoning will hold can this evil that man does prolong its fate?
All signs say that such a risk may prove too great!
I could leave the battle for another’s engagement, rely on the uncertainty that there may be other minds prepared for this crucial arrangement
Even though my visual refutes even the small thoughts of that statement
Besides never has it been in me to quit or give in,
While breath still enters my body I must strive to rise again!
TO FIGHT AGAIN!
Even though I am pain filled and battered, I am not beaten I will not take defeat!
This battle is mine to fight,
TO WIN
For as long as I still have a
HEARTBEAT!
For as long as I still have a
HEARTBEAT!
